10 things

1.I am done with being a crybaby! The stuff that happened to our house is bad,but we are still alive and the animals are doing fine. And this is all that matters.
2.Determined to put on some make up today and maybe do an eye of the day.
3.The only one that is super happy with the situation is the chinchilla. He has a whole bathroom for himself now and he is literally bouncing off the walls.
4.Maybe today or tomorrow a spot in an animal pension/hotel will be free for Kira.I will miss her like hell, but it's better for her, because right now she is not having a good time.It will be for a month maximum and I will visit her as often as I can.
5.I really understood the value of living in your own home.I still wake up at night thinking everything was just a dream, but then I realize that I am not in my own bed.Well I brought my pillow and my tea so I have a little piece of home with me.
6.Living in the city really is depressing.....where are the trees?the mountains?the sea?  Just concrete houses
7.I cooked yesterday in a foreign kitchen, but it turned out okay.So everything is cool.
8.Yesterday I ate a lot of chocolate and realized that chocolate is a great way to console yourself.
9.Thank god for my partners family. They helped us out big times by offering us to stay.
10.MORE CHOCOLATE NAO!

How 5 minutes can change everything

Hi dolls,

Where should I begin?
5 minutes of  hail (cherry size) destroyed our roof and the rain went everywhere in the house. So now I am saving the things that stayed dry and try to minimize the damage.
And until the weather gets better,we will have to stay with family so the roof can be fixed.
Cookingchinchillas will continue in a few days.
My nail stuff and some of the make up is safe,so everything is cool.

Hi dollies <3
Hope you are all doing great!
Thanks for all the nice comments <3

Today's look is crazy, but I really like it because it looks so alien-like-futuristic.

Essence Quick Shine Nail Care Lotion Review

Hi dolls,

Over the last week I have been testing the quick shine lotion from essence. The product has such a great concept and the applicator is really smart.

Packaging: The product comes n a silver squeezable plastic tube with a screw lid.The container is semi-transparent,so you can see how much product is left.Inside the applicator is a wonderful brush that you can find on lipglosses or concealers. Not a doe foot, but a real brush.0.26 fl.oz/7,8 ml and you can use it up to 12 months.

The Product:The lotion is a clear liquid with a kind of alcoholic smell, which later turns into a subtle creamy scent, that is very pleasant
"Shiny harmonious nails within seconds! The shiny nail lotion strengthens and nourishes your nails."(Source:tube)

My 2 cents: I bought the lotion, because the store was out of nail oil and I needed something to moisturize my cuticles on the go.
When you apply the lotion on bare nails it gives the nails a beautiful natural shine and a great deal of moisture. The product can also be layered once one layer has dried up completely.
Applied on the cuticles the lotion gets absorbed very quickly leaving the cuticles looking healthy and moisturized.
One of the things I like is that the lotion kind of seals the cuticles,so after washing your hands the cuticles are not that dry.
The product is perfect for every purse, because it is so convenient when on the go.Nail oil can be a bit more messy (and oily).
But whoever is sensitive to alcohol, should skip this product, because the main ingredient is alcohol.
Compared to my beloved nail oil the lotion doesn't do as much of a good job, because with the oil I really noticed a boost in the growth.

Pro:
-Gets absorbed quickly
-smart applicator
-good moisturizing qualities
-great for on the go

Con:
-Main ingredient alcohol
-Compared to nail oil less nourishing

Conclusion:
I probably would not re-purchase because the lotion is not nourishing enough for my taste. But it's great for the purse.....

Green dramatic cat eye

Hi dolls

Because I have neglected the color green a bit,i wanted to do a look with a lot of green and a dramatic lined eye for an intense look.
What a pity that the camera doesn't pick up the beautiful holo-effect of the lime green I am wearing on the bottom lash line.

Here is the look:

What is your favorite green combination?

Quick neutral eye

Hi dollies!

Today there was no time for big make up,so I went with a quick neutral eye with  a darkened crease and only shimmer on the main lid.

Nothing too fancy, because I needed to focus on concealing .

Vegetable Bolognese sauce with soy minced meat

Hi dolls,

I really start to like the soy minced meat.It gives sauces a really nice, glossy texture and it tastes really good.
This vegetable bologese can be done with a variety of vegetables,so feel free to let your imagination play.
You need:
2 zucchinis (diced)
1 bell pepper (sliced)
2 carrots (peeled and sliced)
1 large onion (sliced)
4 tomatoes (remove seeds,finely diced)
100 ml tomato puree
500 ml vegetable stock
50 ml red wine
1-2 hand full of soy mince
freshly chopped basil and parsley (use as much as you like)
pepper salt
cinnamon

Optional: 2 boiled eggs (diced) ....I just love eggs in my bolognese
a can of mushrooms
Place the diced vegetables in a pot and cover them with vegetable stock and some water.Bring to a boil and once it's boiling season well, cook for 10-12 minutes and drain half of the stock/water.
Now add red wine, tomato puree, basil, parsley, soy minced meat and season well.
Simmer for 10 minutes and serve with your favorite pasta.

Colorful thorns

Hi dolls,

This look is purely for practice, because I had this idea in my mind for a long time.
It didn't turn out that well, especially because I forgot to erase the blue guideline I made.*hits forehead*
So just ignore that line :D

Anyway the look is a biiiit over the top eyeliner art wise, but I am staying inside anyway today.
Yesterday I got the essence soft touch mousse make up and it blew me away.I didn't need to apply concealer, because it can be layered really well. And even after 9 hours of wearing it ,it still lasts and covers.
As soon as it is tested,I will do a full review.

Cherry Blossom Nail Art Design

Hello :)

Today it was warm, the air smelled like spring and this inspired me to do a cherry blossom-ish design.
First I applied two coats of a holo glitter polish, after letting them dry I sponged on some pink and purple. on the half nail.

The flowers consist of dots which were connected and accented with some orange. To complete the look I made some lines, connected with the flowers and added some dots.

For a little extra glam,There is a rhinestone.

Fancy tuna salad

Hi dolls,

Since we finally stocked our fridge again with fresh vegetables,I thought I take advantage of it and prepare some salads.
The fancy tuna salad is pretty easy to do:
2 cans of tuna in water, not in oil
2 carrots peeled and grated
1 zucchini peeled and thinly sliced
1 spring onion (sliced)
1/4 head of red cabbage (finely chopped)
1 bell pepper
lambs lettuce/corn salad/field salad

For the dressing
the juice of 1/2 lemon
50 gr cream cheese
1/2 tiny teaspoon honey
1 teaspoon mayo
2-3 teaspoons tuna water
pepper salt

And all you gotta do is drain the tuna, make the dressing by beating the ingredients with a balloon whisk and mix the salad.

Yesterday I had the same vegetables, added some pasta and steamed broccoli.

Mini Haul and Halleluja

Hi dolls,

I had to run to the beauty shop because my essence nail oil,my foundation and my beloved goth white powder were done.
Foundation was out of stock, nail oil was out of stock and the nail art top coat was out of stock, but at the Beauty Line Cosmetics section I found a true treasure: Almost white facial powder with good pigmentation.Wooohooooooooo Halleluja *Oh what a happy day*
And since their blush is brilliant I just went for the powder, which turned out to be a greeeeat decision.
As for the nail oil....well I was looking at the essence quick shine nail care lotion for a while because I have heard that it works really well on the cuticles. This also turned out great, because the brush applicator is sooo convenient and it gets into the cuticles and the sides of the nail so well.

Sadly the essence nail art top coat was also out of stock, but I previously purchased the high shine top coat and I was quite happy,so I re-purchased it.

The trip to the beauty store was rather depressing, because I just can't stand that sales person. But I saved a lot of money.Instead of paying 15 euro for the gosh foundation,I ordered the essence mousse in matte ivory and saved 10 euro.
For the money I saved I bought a chew shoe thing for Kira.<3
The silly puppy was so thrilled about her new chew shoe that she carried it around all morning and then she hid it in a empty flower pot.

Anyways!

That's my mini haul.As soon as I get the foundation from essence (Thursday) I will review it.
I just hope it won't get any darker after applying it.

When your skin is really dry in winter you can add vegetable based cream or soy cream to your bubble bath.
200 ml is a good amount. To enrich your bubble bath even more you may add olive oil (2 tablespoons)

Easy Fade effect gradient nail art design

Hi dolls,

I needed a fresh mani Saturday night, because Sunday there was a lunch and a chipped alien manicure would not have been good.
Because it was already late I went for a simple purple and gunmetal fade effect with some glitters.

It's nothing too special,but I like it.
The essence glitter polish could be better, because it is hard to manage the glitters and some are deformed,so they may create some bumps.
I am quite happy with the result given the fact that it took me 20 minutes.
Tomorrow I might add something fun to this mani, because I really love to look at funny nail art.

Once again,I am sorry I didn't post as regularly as I usually would do.But it is a bit hectic at the moment.
Hope you lovely people can understand that =)

One thing is for sure: Tomorrow I shall be marching into the supermarket to buy proper ingredients for healthy food and some sweeets.
Don't care if it will be storming or snowing.....
Need vegetables (Only carrots left *pffff*)
It rarely happens that I run out of basic stuff like flour, sugar or eggs and maybe once every 5 years I run out of tea and chocolate. And it happened!

That day should have been banned.

Haha it was not that dramatic, but I felt a certain kind of fear.

Tip of the day: Sanitizing powder products

You should sanitize powder products like eyeshadows, powders and blushes every once in a while, especially if you have sensitive or acne prone skin.No need to buy fancy sanitizing sprays.
Simply purchase a bottle of rubbing alcohol with at least 93% volume (Alcohol content).
Either use a spray/mist bottle and lightly (!!!) spritz your powder product from a distance or you wrap a cotton ball with tissue and lightly spritz it in order to gently wipe/pat the powder product.

Linguine with broccoli, beans and smoked sausage

Howdy!

Cooking sometimes can mean to work with what you have. You can't always have the best ingredients as a normal home-cook.
Especially when you had no time for grocery shopping the options may seem limited, but with a bit of creativity and craziness there is always a dish or two you can improvise.

You need:
2 portions of Linguine Pasta
2 hands full of frozen green beans
2 hands full of frozen broccoli
150 ml heavy cream
2 smoked sausages of your choice (sliced)
pepper salt nutmeg
olive oil
water

Because the sauce and the broccoli cook really quick, you can boil the pasta and the beans together. My Linguine took 12 min to cook and the beans took the same to be tender,so it is a perfect match. After 10 minutes of cooking time, add the broccoli
In a small saucepan quickly color the sliced sausage in a 1 tablespoon of olive oil.Add cream and season. Now mix the linguine with the sauce and enjoy

Extremely quick and yummy!

Purple and Black Goth make up

Hi lovely dolls!

This week I was seriously make up lazy, but I am not a person who would say:"Leaving the house without make up is impossible"
Sometimes I just don't care! This week was so stressful and emotionally exhausting, that I rather spend my 'morning-make-up-time' with another cup of tea.
But today was a good day and I wanted to do some serious make up.......
The initial morning look first was a simple neutral eye with a winged eyeliner, and once I was done with chores and work I thought I spice things up a little.
It's not really a smokey eye,but as usual I smoked out the shadows a bit.For the inner corners I used a heavy shimmer white shadow, then a light pink, then the purple, then the black.
To fade out the black and purple I used a hint of a teal color,so that maybe the teal will optically whiten my eyes that were quite red today.
Given the fact that I wore quite a lot of mascara on the bottom,I don't think it was necessary to line the bottom lash line.Just a little khol on the waterline.

Back to the roots......... or screw high end skin care

Hi dolls

In the last year I tried a ton of high end products, because I had accumulated a lot of samples.
At first the fancy stuff amazed me and I liked it.But then I noticed that it doesn't really do more of a good job than a supermarket-brand moisturizer.
So after doing some serious thinking about fancy skin care stuff I came to the conclusion that I won't ask for anymore samples.
Why?Because before I started the 'fancy sample hunt' my skin was fine.
Now after having tried tons and tons of that fancy stuff,my skin was more irritated, break out prone and dry than ever.
A while ago after taking the decision to stop the experiments I went to the supermarket and bought the two moisturizers I have been using the last five years.A day time moisturizer with spf and a very rich moisturizer with Vitamin E.
After 2 weeks had passed by my skin was back to normal.Phew!

The essence anti-spot moisturizer won't leave my collection ever again, because seriously this is a brilliant product with multiple uses. And mixed with the daytime moisturizer it works amazingly, mattifies my skin and keeps me spot-free.

So let me introduce the supermarket-brand moisturizers:

If you live in a country that has the french Carrefour supermarket chain, you will most likely find the moisturizers.
The brand is called " Les Cosmetiques" and they produce really good stuff with nice ingredients.
The daytime moisturizer has an Spf of 15 and it contains Septilift and Vitamin A,C,E.
Usually I avoid Spf because it makes you look like a ghost on pictures taken with a flash.Nope, not this one.
It keeps me moisturized all day long and it absorbs really nicely.
After a few days of using it you will notice that your skin becomes more firm and fine lines get reduced.

The nighttime moisturizer also contains Vitamin E and Septilift, but it also contains olive-leaf extract and as a olive-product junkie I am loving the fact.
You may apply it around the eyes and you will see results the morning after. The skin will be firm, happy and deeply moisturized.

Both creams cost about 2-3 Euro each and they have a slightly citrus-y scent, which is very pleasant.

So skincare doesn't have to be from a fancy-pansy brand in order to work.

I am starting to realize that most high end products are just a hype.........

Wednesday

Tip of the day : Tomato nail and cuticle scrub

If you plan on growing healthy nails, you have to do a scrub once a week because the skin around the nail needs to be exfoliated to absorb moisture and skin nourishing substances better.
You need:
1 tablespoon of tomato juice or puree (not the concentrated one)
1 teaspoon honey
a generous drop of liquid soap or shower gel
sugar
old toothbrush
Mix tomato juice, honey and soap well together and add sugar until you reach a scrub consistency.I needed about 2 tablespoons.
Apply on your bare nails and cuticles and softly scrub with a toothbrush.Leave on for at least 3 minutes and rinse off.
Now you should moisturize right away!

10 things

1.This week is probably one of the worst weeks ever work-wise.So many new things I have to learn.
But learning is always a good thing.
2.Sadly this week also made me realize one big thing: There are bad people....pure evil. And dealing with them can be a pain, but ignoring them seems to be the best way out.
3.Is it bad to really LOL at a stranger trying to make a fire in order to burn pieces of old metal???
Well I couldn't help it,but it was soooo funny. He tried to burn metal with a little barbecue sized fire, and when he realized that the metal won't burn,he put out the fire.
Now that was a real highlight.......
4.I am soooooo sooo sooo hungry. No cooking today...A fastfood place will do the job
5.Why does everybody hate the essence nail art top coat? I used about 10 (?) bottles of it and I am always very satisfied.....
6.Don't wanna sound like a whiny, mopey goth, but I just wanna crawl in my bed,put a blanket over my head and not leave my bed until the week is over. Why does all the bad stuff happen at once?
To make things worse,I am out of chocolate.
7.This morning I came across a weird kind of wild thyme. It smells 10x stronger than the normal wild thyme, but it has also some citrus-y scent to it.Took a little piece with me to make a proper research.
8.Seeing Uggs for the first time in real life was so weird.Nice boots, but what's the hype?
9.Big Shout out to my lovely readers and followers <3 <3
10.Today I plan on going to bed really early.

Hi dollies

Sorry for the lack of posts this weekend, but my internet was not working properly.

It was from a dear friend who thought I might need some gothification.
There was the beautiful black cross with rhinestones and tons of tights and lingerie.
I am obviously not going to show the tights or lingerie, because that is too private.

Black and White Goth Make up and some bla bla

Hi dolls,

Today's make up was sooo inappropriate, because we were building Kira a dog house, which turned out more like a dog mansion.....
But anyway, this morning I was listening to Sopor Aeternus again and this beautiful music and the lyrics totally inspired me.
The look is a black and white transition (gradient) blended with a splash of color.
I was wearing normal make up the last few days.
The thought of applying bronzer passed my mind, but thankfully it went away pretty quick.
Blush AND bronzer on a pale goth face looks kind of wrong.I guess watching too much youtube-make up-guru-stuff can mess with your mind.It also could be the fact that I didn't have a cup of tea this morning.
*Sigh* Bronzer......

Kiras mansion turned out really big,but it is beautiful and she loves it.
The only thing missing is the front part. Our plan was to cut out the door with a saw that we thought we had.Well it turned out that our saw is a pretty small and weak ,so somebody else will have to cut the front door.

What was your most inappropriate make up?

10 things

1.It is raining cats and dogs outside.Having to take the dog for a walk is not fun.Thank god there are only a few of those uber rainy days here in Greece.
2.But sitting down with a nice cup of oriental green tea after coming home soaking wet and cold is great.(anise, cinnamon, cardamom, vanilla and honey infused)
3.I don't like being hyperactive, but the last few days I am hyperactive all day and once I sit down on the sofa I fall asleep within 2 minutes.
4.Limited edition overload: Every cosmetic company seems to have new limited editions out all the time.I kinda lost track, but to be honest I don't wanna keep track. If I am lucky and there is a nice limited edition in front of me in the store,I'll check it out.But chasing them???Nope not anymore
5.No more smarties candy for me.In one week I ate three bags of those tiny chocolate lentils. Why do I keep getting addicted to candies of this kind?? First it was M&M's,then it was the minty chocolate lentils?Maybe it's the artificial colors that appeal to me...
6.Feeling the urge to read a book.....
7.Greek make up companies don't care for their customer at all.2 of 4 didn't even bother to answer my mail and the other two just send a pre-written-standard answer.
8.The news that essence will change their product range are great.I love frequent product rotation.
9.Thankfully the weather will be better on Saturday
10.Movies that have a great beginning but a baaad ending should be forbidden.

Chocolate chip cookies with caramelized peanuts

Hi dolls,

Punching a dough is one of my number one stess/anger/sadness relief-remedies......
So since yesterday was certainly not my day,I made some cookies.
As usual I followed my Basic cookie dough recipe
I exchanged the 325 gr all purpose flour with 280 gr whole grain/whole wheat flour.

For the rest you will need:
150 gr coarsely chopped peanuts (unsalted)
5 tablespoons of powdered sugar
1 tablespoon of water
200 gr dark chocolate (coarsely chopped)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Knead the dough (and maybe give it a punch or two).......

In a dry non stick pan add the peanuts, powdered sugar and the water. While stirring slowly, let the sugar and water melt and then caramelize.Once the color of the caramel has a golden hue, remove from the heat and spread on a cooling rack with non stick baking paper.

In case your peanuts are stuck or clumped together, simply put them in a freezer bag and give them a whoop or two with a rolling pin.

Add the chocolate, peanuts and vanilla extract to the dough and knead a little to spread the goodies evenly.

And that's it :D

Edit: I entered the Sweets for Saturday Linky Party hosted by the wonderful Lisa

German Rotkohl (Red sweet and sour cabbage)

Hi dolls,

This dish is one of those dishes I didn't like as a child, but now that I am older I love it to death.
Especially in Bavaria this dish is served with meat, but it can also be paired with loaded mash or fish.
Served on a bed of salad,it creates a beautiful composition of texture and flavor.

You may also make a big batch and fill it into glasses and preserve it.

You need:
1/2 head of red cabbage
2 Granny Smith apples
150 ml red wine
100 ml of vinegar or apple cider vinegar
olive oil water

pepper salt and a pinch of sugar

The recipe is pretty easy!
Chop your cabbage up into stripes, peel, core and dice the apples.
Place apples and cabbage in a large pot and add the red wine and vinegar.Add about 200 ml of water and season.
Bring to a boil and simmer for 2-3 hours.Once the water evaporates, add some more.I usually need to add water 3 times.
When the cabbage turns deep purple, stop adding water and simmer until the majority of liquid has evaporated and check on the seasoning again.

The other things on my plate are loaded mash (Onions, curry paste and sausage) and some smoked fish.
