Lightening hair with hydrogen peroxide and lemon (before and after)

Hi dolls

I am not a friend of hair dye because it smells horrible  and I am not sure how healthy it is.Few weeks back I was thinking about red highlights, but then I decided not to do it,because once you dye you have to worry about roots and re-dying.

My hair color is dirty blond and in summer it turns into a honey blond because I spray it with lemon juice when I go to the beach. But the effect wasn't thaaaat visible.
I searched the internet and found a cool way to lighten the  hair with hydrogen peroxide and lemon.

Before you get started, cut off a small lock of hair and tape it onto a cardboard. So you can see the effect before you actually might ruin your hair color.
This method works only for blondes.Brown, red or black hair might turn orange.
And if you are not careful, you might damage your hair quite badly.Be safe and try it on a lock of cut hair first ,because I can not be held responsible,if your hair turns out to be orange.

You need:
3 tablespoons hydrogen peroxide 6%
1 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon lemon juice

hair mask and conditioner for after

Mix the ingredients and apply to your hair. The recipe can be doubled up if you need.
Leave in for 3-4 hours.
Rinse your hair well, use shampoo,a mask and conditioner to minimize the damage done to your hair.
If you want a more drastic result, repeat again after 3 days.
That's what I did and as you can see the change is quite drastic .

But again,I am not responsible if your hair turns out badly.

DIY: trying to dupe a paint pot....-Done!

Hi dolls

Mac paintpots are great, especially the ones that have shimmer. But as you know,I am a DIY kinda gal.
I randomly mixed cream shadows, face base and sticky concealer.
To melt the ingredients I just microwaved a mug of water until very hot, filled the shadows in an airtight jar and dropped the jar into the mug for 5 minutes.
Then I stirred well and dropped it into the mug again .
Sadly I forgot to tap the jar on a surface to get rid of bubbles.....as you can see in the picture bubbles of air kinda messed up the surface.

I tried it under my eyeshadow and it works !! *Yay*

DIY pressed eyeshadows

Hi dolls

Yesterday I started pressing again :) I was going for duochrome eyeshadows which worked out with 1 eyeshadow so *yaaaay*    The oval eyeshadow is duochrome as you can see : A light pink,a purple and gold combined in one shadow.I was blown away by the swatches.
I will do a look tomorrow!

Here are the results:
the duochrome :)

dark dark gray with gold shimmer

burgundy with golden shimmer

I also found a new way to de-pot eyeshadow pans : Soaking them in alcohol will break down the glue and then you can just lift the pan with a thin knife :)

The shadows came out soooo lovely!

What do you think?

DIY Complexion perfection (aka guerlain meteorites dupe )

Hi dolls

Guerlain has this amazing product that consists of different colored powder pearls to even out the complexion.
It costs a lot of money and it smells like a grandma's cologne.
The theory behind this product is based on colors that cancel out each other: Green neutralizes red,salmon/red neutralizes blue an lavender neutralizes yellow/orange.
When you have a little hue of all those colors in your powder, your complexion will look a lot smoother and more even.
I thought I would try and make a version of the meteorites in a pressed powder form. Now I will just assume, that you already know how to press powders.
You need:
-Your favorite facial powder
-light green matte pigment
-salmon colored matte pigment
-blue-ish lavender pigment
-small amount of hd-powder (optional)

-rubbing alcohol
-pan,powder case
-tissue
-3 shotglasses to mix

First mix your powder,hd powder with the rubbing alcohol and turn it into a paste.Take away 3  half teaspoons and place the content in a shot glass. In each shot glass mix a tiny amount of colored pigment,so you get a pastel color.
Randomly scoop powder-batches  into the pan,so you get a nice random color pattern.

Press firmly and let it set for 48 hours.

Once I finished this product,it fell down and chipped a bit :S It still works amazingly,so no problemo~

DIY pressed highlighters

Hi dolls

It was time again to get rid of some sample baggies and use that empty concealer palette I had laying around.
This time I wanted to make some highlighters that can also be used as eyeshadows.

I am really happy with the results, especially the first color which is just a beautiful golden shimmer. It will make such a great highlighter :)

DIY : Clearing out those sample baggies

Hi dolls

Over the last year I had accumulated a lot of moisturizer/body lotion/body butter/hand cream samples, which took up quite some space.
Most of the moisturizers are for mature skin,so there is no way I would put that into my face.So I stored the samples that I will use and I was left with  27 samples that are not suitable for my needs.
But throwing away those samples is not an option!
I simply mixed the content of the samples in little screw lid jars, stirred and the result is a very very rich, uber moisturizing cuticle cream with tons of amazing ingredients.
*Yay*
I already used up 1 of my 3 jars and I am really happy.

DIY Eyeshadow Primer Base

Hi dolls,

I had a lot of cream concealers from various concealer palettes, that were too dark for me.I use some of them for contouring, but some colors just don't work.
So this is perfect for any cream concealers that you don't like/don't use.
This is a great 2 in 1 product : Primer Potion and Paint Pot in one jar :)

You need:
~1 1/2 teaspoon of cream concealer  (concealer sticks don't work)
a pea sized amount oil free facial moisturizer
a pea sized amount of face base
rubbing alcohol

A little jar/container with a screw lid
plastic toothpick
blow dryer
Wooden popsicle stick

Wipe your jar, popsicle stick and toothpick with rubbing alcohol and wash your hands!

Scoop the cream concealer with the popsicle stick into your jar and blow dry it on medium heat for 10 seconds or until it gets soft.It is good to put the jar on a damp cloth,so it won't slip while the blow dryer hits it with air.
Add the moisturizer, face base and one generous drop of rubbing alcohol.
Mix it together with the toothpick and close the lid.
Chill inside your fridge on the top shelf or in the fridge door for at least 8 hours then remove it from the fridge 1 hour prior to using it.
Don't worry ,you won't have to keep it inside the fridge all the time. The fridge just helps the ingredients to really stick to each other.

As you can see I have used it quite a lot, that's because I wanted to really test it before I post a DIY recipe.

It really doesn't crease when you apply it like you would apply any cream product on to your lids, because there is face/foundation primer in it.
Your eyeshadows will be be more vibrant due to the stickiness of the cream concealer and the colors will last longer because the moisturizer will bind the shadow particles to the skin. Most moisturizers also contain emulsifier which helps all the ingredients to mix.
The rubbing alcohol is just a little helper that makes stirring the product easier. It will evaporate anyway.

It's such a great way to save money, because the really good eye primers and bases are pricey!

DIY pressed eyeshadow [Part one]

Hi dolls

I had accumulated quite a stash of pigment samples from a ebay purchase. The samples were average colors,so I used them 2 times and then they went into my sample box.Today I wanted to mix a few new colors and press them. The lovely Peach actually inspired me to get some pressing done.
It was really a lot of fun to make all the different colors.I don't have any colors like that in my collection
Here you can learn how to press powdered products.

The shadows will have to dry until tomorrow, then I can show you the swatches too !
Too bad I didn't have a lot of alcohol left, otherwise I would have done a dupe to the guerlain meteorites, which even out the complexion by the rules of color theory. That's on my to do list for tomorrow then !

Anyway :)
Here are the colors:

The purple-ish one and the blue-ish teal ones are actually duos. The sunlight just made the blue one look like a mono. The brown one has a golden swirl. Once they are dry,the actual color will show.

Can't wait to swatch them tomorrow :)

Good night dolls!

The naked truth

Hi dolls

Lately I have been doing a lot of serious thinking about my relationship with make up.Some people won't leave the house unless they wear make up.Am I one of those people??? Do I need make up to feel pretty???
Is make up a part of me???Does my partner think I am ugly with no make up????
NO!
Hell NO!

Make up is just an accessory for me.Yes of course I can cover flaws with it and look pretty,
I never want to reach a point where I feel ugly/low self esteem without make up.
Almost everybody has dark circles and puffy eyes when they wake up and almost everybody has some kind of flaws. So why should I be obsessed with covering them?

I know my lashes are invisible without mascara because I am a blonde,I know my eyebrows are sparse and as soon as the summer really kicks in,they will be almost invisible due to the natural bleaching process of sun exposure.

Dolls, embrace your flaws! And the next time you see a uber hot girl that you envy for her flawless skin, just remember that under those layers of make up,she has a blemish or two and maybe her dark circles are worse than yours.

So here is a picture of my 7 o'clock morning face :

DIY Brush cleaning soap PART 2

Hi dolls

In PART 1 you have learned how to make your own brush cleaning soap. Now I will show you how to use it.

This is the dried soap

And this is a very dirty blush brush

Rinse your brush with lukewarm water

Swirl it in the soap until the bristles are stiff and saturated with soap

Lather it up in the palm of your hand with a few drops of water

Swirl until the bristles are clean
Rinse with cold water, push out the water, swirl on a clean towel, dry upside down.
The brush is squeaky clean, the bristles are conditioned and there are no germs or bacteria.

DIY Mineral Multi Color Blush -Part one-

Hi dolls,

This afternoon I decided to not do anything related to getting the house back in shape.Needed a break and do something girly.
It was time for 'find a new use for powder products'.There were a lot of almost empty powders, highlighters, blushes and eyeshadows. They use up a lot of room and it's a pity to not use them.

It's simple and everybody can do that at home.
Pressing powders is fun and you can be creative because you design the perfect products for your needs.
I had done a few posts on that in the past, the instructions are included in the links.
DIY pressed goth powder
DIY mineral blush Highlighter trio

This time I had a lot of different colors to mix and match,so I can't wait to see the result.
Here are a few tips:
-When you want to transform an eyeshadow into a blush you have to mix in at least 20% face powder to mute the color of the eyeshadow a bit.Depending on the pigmentation the eyeshadow may even need 50% face powder.
-a tiny amount of a rather unusual color makes the difference in the result.
-try to use products with fine shimmer.
-Matte shadows also work
-You can even create your own bronzer
-make sure to check the expiration date of every ingredient you use.The product that will expire the soonest will determine the expiration date of your diy product!!
-indentations can be made with jewelery,I used cross earrings and a cross necklace.(Hope jesus won't have a problem with being a blush indentator)
-let the final product dry for at least 10 hours.

In the pictures my blush is still wet,so the colors don't show properly yet.

Tomorrow I will add the pictures of the final result with swatches.

The dry chapped lips odyssey

Hi dolls,

Extremely chapped, dry and swollen lips are one of my least favorite seasonal  boo boos. The last 8 days my lips looked like I made out with a hedgehog after kissing the entire route 66 asphalt.
During the first day I used a Korres Chapstick, which worked for like 3 minutes and then the lips would be burning again.I spend about 7 Euro on a medical lipbalm, which relieved the burning sensation and nourished the lips, but once the product was wearing off my lips would feel tingly and sore.

Okay,screw the lip-product industry,back to mother nature....

Honey,Olive oil,shea butter,cocoa butter,chamomile,essential oils........
Only chamomile tea and olive oil paired worked fairly well.Honey just made it worst.....
The next morning was the worst day of the whole chapped cracked lips journey.

While shopping for groceries I passed by the baby care section......oils,shampoos and baby buttock cream.
Then the light bulb above my head lid!Eureka!
Back in the day when I was in Austria for a snowboard vacation I used baby buttock cream.
So I took a sample sized jar with me.
At home I applied a thick coat and within the first ten minutes the burning finally stopped.

3 times a day for 3 days and my lips started to look more normal day by day.Today they feel normal too.

So baby buttock cream for the win!

Back to the roots......... or screw high end skin care

Hi dolls

In the last year I tried a ton of high end products, because I had accumulated a lot of samples.
At first the fancy stuff amazed me and I liked it.But then I noticed that it doesn't really do more of a good job than a supermarket-brand moisturizer.
So after doing some serious thinking about fancy skin care stuff I came to the conclusion that I won't ask for anymore samples.
Why?Because before I started the 'fancy sample hunt' my skin was fine.
Now after having tried tons and tons of that fancy stuff,my skin was more irritated, break out prone and dry than ever.
A while ago after taking the decision to stop the experiments I went to the supermarket and bought the two moisturizers I have been using the last five years.A day time moisturizer with spf and a very rich moisturizer with Vitamin E.
After 2 weeks had passed by my skin was back to normal.Phew!

The essence anti-spot moisturizer won't leave my collection ever again, because seriously this is a brilliant product with multiple uses. And mixed with the daytime moisturizer it works amazingly, mattifies my skin and keeps me spot-free.

So let me introduce the supermarket-brand moisturizers:

If you live in a country that has the french Carrefour supermarket chain, you will most likely find the moisturizers.
The brand is called " Les Cosmetiques" and they produce really good stuff with nice ingredients.
The daytime moisturizer has an Spf of 15 and it contains Septilift and Vitamin A,C,E.
Usually I avoid Spf because it makes you look like a ghost on pictures taken with a flash.Nope, not this one.
It keeps me moisturized all day long and it absorbs really nicely.
After a few days of using it you will notice that your skin becomes more firm and fine lines get reduced.

The nighttime moisturizer also contains Vitamin E and Septilift, but it also contains olive-leaf extract and as a olive-product junkie I am loving the fact.
You may apply it around the eyes and you will see results the morning after. The skin will be firm, happy and deeply moisturized.

Both creams cost about 2-3 Euro each and they have a slightly citrus-y scent, which is very pleasant.

So skincare doesn't have to be from a fancy-pansy brand in order to work.

I am starting to realize that most high end products are just a hype.........

Olive Oil multi purpose skin care

Hi Dollies <3

A few weeks ago I made an experiment because I simply love olive oil, rose water and orange blossom water, because they really improved my skin. But how to combine those products and make one????
So I was removing my make up one night and when I grabbed my 2 phase eye make up remover the little light bulb above my head started to shine.I have tested the 'formula' and I am ready to toss out a lot of products, because this is cheaper and all natural.
The best part is,that it has sooo many purposes.

You need :
2 parts rose water
1 part orange blossom water
1 part extra virgin olive oil
a very clean bottle!
Of course it would be fabulous if the ingredients were organic.
Mix and shake well before every use.

You can use it for : toning, moisturizing, anti aging, scar reducing, pore refining, black head cleansing, make up removal, body lotion, hair mask for dry ends, cuticle moisturizing, after shave for women, massages, mixing medium, spot treatment for flaky skin before applying foundation and many many more.

I currently use it as a toner/moisturizer,especially around my nose and eyes, because it is gentle and super hydrating.
Simply take a cotton ball and gently wipe it on your face.

Do you have any recipes for natural cosmetics or remedies?Let me know please

DIY Lip balm with flavor

Helllo

Let's make a cute Lip balm shall we?

It is very easy and most of us have all the ingredients at home. The recipe is for 2 small jars

You need:
2 tablespoons Vaseline
2 drops olive oil or Vitamin E oil
1/3 teaspoon Vanilla syrup or Raspberry syrup (I used Raspberry) Any flavored syrup will do
2 drops of honey
1/3 teaspoon pigment
For the shimmer you can use any pigment you like.I used a shimmery vanilla colored pigment and a rosy pink pigment with gold shimmer

Jars
a microwave safe mug
something to stir (I used a plastic spoon)
A bowl

Combine all ingredients in your bowl and stir well.Fill the mixture into the jars.

Put 50 ml of water into your microwave safe mug and bring it to a boil in the microwave.Make sure your jars close well otherwise seal the lid with some tape.
Put one jar into the mug and let it sit there for 10 min.Remove the jar from the water, open it and stir .
Repeat with the other jars.

Since I had raspberry syrup in my kitchen I tried it out and it was fabulous!
It makes the lips soft and has such a cool color.

When a Goth jumps and dances around the house....

Hello Beauties <3

What do you think is the occasion when a Goth Girl like me runs around the house doing happy dances???
-New Grave yard opening?
-Armageddon?
-Bauhaus album?

Noooo *meeeep* wrong!

I am happy to announce that I finally managed to apply false/faux lashes with the help of EnKore Make up tutorials.(Thxxx Koren)

Lashes were my big beauty insecurity.I either had glue all over my lid or the lashes would be going into all different directions.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

I really did a happy dance! Just don't tell anyone ok.That would ruin my image !!!! (No No just kidding)

Here is the proof:

Yay!
