Tip of the day : Cleaning silver jewelery

There are many tips and tricks on how to clean silver, but most of them involve rubbing or polishing it after. And toothpaste is kind of messy to tell the truth and it isn't really quick either. The following tip doesn't require a lot of fuzz.
You need:
a plastic bowl
your favorite silver jeweler
laundry detergent/washing powder (preferably the one for hand-washing or biological one)
hot water

Place all the jewelery in a bowl, add 1-2 tablespoons of washing powder and add hot (not boiling!!!) water.
Wait for 10-30 minutes depending on how dirty the jewelery is and remove it from the bowl.Rinse and pace on a towel to dry.

Saturday

Tip of the day : Puffy eye emergency

We all have been there : A very important day ahead of you and your eyes look like you have been binge drinking all night.Don't worry there are a few things you can try :
-Dab a  damp green tea bag (ultra cold water please ) on your under eye area.
-Rub an ice cube around the eye area.Be sure to not let the bare ice touch your skin for more than 7 seconds.
-Massage the brow area and make funny faces. This will help to distribute the water and get rid of the puff mess.
-Potato juice (cut a tiny piece of potato and rub it under the eye, wash it off after 5 min)

And if nothing helps : Sunglasses

Tuesday

Tip of the day : Rice water=all purpose beauty secret

We all know that we have to rinse rise before we cook it,but throwing away the water that rinses the rice is a sin, because it's full of vitamins and minerals. So the next time you cook rice, keep the cloudy water from the first rinse and fill it into a bottle to keep it in the fridge.
How you can use it :
1.As a toner.Soak a cotton pad with rice water and gently pad it on your skin
2.As a nail treatment .You can soak your hands in a bowl of rice water for 10-20 minutes and provide nutrients and moisture for your skin.
3.As a hair rinse : Mix a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to the rice water and after shampooing rinse your hair with rice water.
4.As a after sun treatment.Soak a towel with rice water and apply to mild sunburns or sun-damaged skin.

Thursday

Tip of the day : Less painful eyebrow tweeze

Tweezing the eyebrow can be painful sometimes, especially if the root of the hair is thick and strong.
There are several things you can do to prevent pain and red marks from the irritation.
1.Tweeze your eyebrows right after taking a warm/hot shower.Your pores open up with the heat and steam and open pores will release the hair better than closed pores.
2.Apply a nice amount of a thick moisturizer on your brows, that will soften the skin.
3.If you experience a lot of pain you can numb the skin with ice cubes, but be careful, never leave the bare ice cube to have skin contact for more than 15 seconds. This will also minimize the irritation.

Saturday

Tip of the day : Foundation+Heat=Sweat

If you want to wear a full face of foundation and powder during summer,it can be quite challenging to keep the foundation from creasing and looking yucky in the areas of the face that you sweat in.Sunglasses make the situation even more difficult, because they leave may leave ugly crease-marks on your nose.
My problem is the cupid's bow and above.
Before you apply your foundation,be sure to use a primer on your face.
When you apply foundation to your problem area, just use a tiny tiny bit and dust it with powder.Make sure you don't blend the powder yet.Let the foundation and the powder set for 3 minutes, then you can buff-blend it.
Mineral powder is great for this purpose by the way.
Once your are done with your make up application ,use a good setting spray/mist (Model in a Bottle ,Skindinavia,ELF,NYX,Mac).
Now your foundation should be secured and you don't have to be worried about creasy, messy marks.

Tip of the day: Spot cleaning brushes

When you do your make up it can be very handy to have a liquid that can quickly cleaning clean your brushes.
And as always it is very very important to maintain a certain hygiene when doing make up,because especially cream products are very germ-prone.
You just need :
1 part rubbing alcohol
1 part distilled water
spray bottle.

You simply spritz your brush and clean it off on a paper towel with back and forward strokes until it is dry.
This method works great for cream products. For powder products on the brush you might as well spritz the paper towel and make the same strokes .

Wednesday

Tip of the day : Dry,flaky patches

Dry patches in the face can be a pain in the butt, especially when you put make up on top.Make up just will emphasize the dryness and flakiness. In order to prevent that from happening you can just follow one easy tip:
Simply dab some chapstick/lipbalm on the dry patch and wait for it to set for about 5 minutes. Now you'll be ready to apply make up on top without having flakes show through.

Tuesday

Tip of the day : Sun block for the face

When you are using some sunblock products on your face they can be a little on the oily side and they will prevent your make up from staying put.And because some sunblocks are water resistant, even a great make up setting spray won't do much.
The solution is easy: Just mix some foundation primer into the sunscreen and apply 20 minutes prior to applying your make up.This way the primer will utilize the oils of the sunscreen to provide a smooth base for your make up.And within 20 minutes your skin will have time to absorb the product better.
Another great way to prevent sun block from ruining your make up is a finely milled mineral powder to set the whole make up.

Monday

Tip of the day : Longer Lasting Polish

If your nail polish chips fairly quick, don't blame it on the brand right away, because usually you can make any polish last longer by following easy tips.
1.After removing old nail polish, you should always wash your hands with soap, because a lot of nail polish removers contain oils. And oils will prevent your nail polish from adhering to your nails.
2.Before applying a base coat you can file the surface of your nails with a very fine nail file.
3.Even clear polish can be used as a topcoat, but usually hydrating base coats or nail hardeners/ridge filler do a great job.
4.A good top coat : This is essential to keep a manicure beautiful. You don't have to spend a lot of money ,because basically any top coat and even a layer of clear polish will make a huge difference.
5.The free edge: The very tips of your nail have to face a lot of stress, because you use your fingers for almost everything.Applying a very thin coat of topcoat on the free edge of your nail will prevent tip-chips.
If you have longer nails, don't forget to apply a thing layer to the sides of the nail.

Tuesday

Tip of the day: Protect your hair from the sun damage

It's summer now and almost everybody is either on holidays or goes to the next pool or beach.Sun,salt water and pool water can be quite damaging for your hair and cause it to be dry and dull. You can make a cool sun protector for your hair at home with things you probably already have.
You need:
1 spray bottle
150 ml of water
1/2 tablespoon sun screen (high spf would be great)
2-3 drops olive oil
1 tablespoon of your favorite conditioner
optional: Essential oils (rosemary,coconut,lavender ) for a great smell.Use 1-2 drops only.

Fill ingredients into a spray bottle, shake up and spritz on your hair after coming out of the pool or salt water.
You can repeat the application numerous times a day.Just make sure you wash it out at night.

Saturday

Tip of the day : Matte lipsticks

Matte lipsticks can look awful when the lips are dry and not perfectly peeled. You can do a peeling of course, but performing peelings everyday is not very practical and healthy.Try to apply a lip balm before you start with your face-routine.When you are ready to apply foundation blot your lips and apply the foundation thinly on your lips, then set it with powder.Apply the lipstick on top and your lips will look almost perfect.

Thursday

Tip of the day : Perfect brows

Doing your eyebrows can be quite challenging. At least for me it's always a pain to do them.Apply your brow products as you usually would, then take a small concealer brush with a bit concealer and clean up the edges of your brows.Just trace around your brow with a bit of concealer, blend the concealer and you will be left with perfect brows, sharp and fierce.Especially for photography or videography this is quite helpful.

Wednesday

Tip of the day : Highlighting for pale faces

If your complexion is very light or pale you may have noticed that a white/silver shimmering highlighter may not look as great as you would like to.Especially in photos taken with flash the white/silver shimmer may wash out the blush/contour colors quite a bit
Try to take a very pale/light gold shade with ultra fine shimmer or alternatively use a very light peach/bronze/apricot shimmering product.
Examples
Mac: MSF,Illuminating face powder (in honey)
Essence : Color & Shine Eyeshadow (trip to venus, mercurios, stage beauty) Remember it's eyeshadow so just pick a tiiiny bit up with your brush.

Saturday

Tip of the day : A bit of freshness for your face

During hot summer days we all seek a little refreshment here or there. You can combine the urge for a bit of a refreshment with beauty benefits, and it's very easy too : Keep toners, facial sprays, moisturizers, eye creams and even your lotion in the bottom part of the fridge.A chilled product will reduce puffiness and redness,it will also tighten the skin.
Your complexion will have a beautiful refreshed look and it will glow healthy :)

Tuesday

Tip of the day : Deep nail cleansing

You should deep-clean your nails and cuticles at least once a week, because dirt, oils and product residue can cause the nail surface to seal and avoid the absorbing of moisture and nutrients.Especially when you wear a lot of nail polish you should deep clean your nails after every polish removal.
This easy peeling scrub will deep clean your nails and cuticles.
You need:
1 tablespoon  ground coffee
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 drop of vinegar
1 tablespoon olive oil
about 1/2 tablespoon water

Mix the ingredients in a small container and apply to your nails and cuticles, scrub in soft circular motions for about 1 minute on each hand. Rinse off with hot water and apply your favorite moisturizer/hand cream/oil.
You can keep it in an airtight container inside the fridge for 2 weeks.

Tip of the day : Rose Petal facial for radiant skin

This facial mask will give your skin a ton of moisture, nourishment and it is also a great way to battle acne.
If you have roses in your garden that are not treated with any pesticide/insecticide feel free to use them.
You need:
-the petals from one rose
-1 tablespoon oats
-1 teaspoon honey
-1 tablespoon yogurt
-one drop of tea tree oil
-1 tablespoon water

Thursday

Tip of the day: Sunburn relief

It's summer now and the sun in some regions of the world is really dangerous especially around the midday hours. So you can get a sunburn really quick.
Always make sure to seek medical help if your sunburn appears along with blisters or extreme pain.
First cool your sunburn down with water(a little below body temp, you shouldn't feel cold)
Mix plain yogurt with a few drops of vinegar an optional Vitamin E oil, lavender oil or a tiny dash of baking soda.
Simple yogurt +vinegar works just fine, the other ingredients are just a way of speeding up the healing process and hydration/relief.Apply on the burned area in a thick layer
Remove in the shower once the yogurt becomes tacky.

Tip of the day: Powerful insect repellant

It's mosquito season again and this year it's really bad. Those insect repellants in the store are way to chemical and unhealthy for my taste, especially if you have small animals living in your house. And they dry out the skin so badly. For your own insect repellant lotion follow the instructions
You need:
-Organic essential citronella oil (It HAS to be essential oil)
-any body lotion with no particularly strong scent
-measuring cup
-container to store the mosquito repellant lotion

For each 100 ml of body lotion add 6 drops of citronella oil.Mix well and store up to 4 weeks in a cool place.
I have to emphasize that it is very important that you buy essential oil, because scented oils/aroma oils are not suitable for the application on the human body.Essential oils are safe to use.
And if you have a tendency to allergies, please test a tiny amount of essential oil on your skin for 24 hours.

Tip of the day : Nail and cuticle mask for brittle nails

If you suffer from weak brittle nails simply follow one simple step every day and you will notice a huge difference.Of course you can always buy a product at the store, but DIY is a lot cheaper.
You simply need:
-1 teaspoon of flax seed oil or pumpkin seed oil
-1 teaspoon of olive oil
-5 drops of lavender essential oil

Mix and put into a small jar or container and apply to your hands every day.
