Essence ultra strong nail hardener review

Halleluja!

Oh my gosh! I am soooooooo happy, that I finally found essence cosmetics here in my country.Essence cosmetics is a German Make up brand that is very popular for it's affordable prices and cruelty free products.
I am a big fan of cruelty free products, because animals should not be tortured so that I can wear my make up.

The ultra strong nail hardener comes in a little silver bottle that contains 9 ml product.
You cannot see into the bottle, which is kind of a bummer, cuz I wanna know when it is time to buy a new one.The ingredients are not listed on the bottle. You have to look up the ingredients on the essence web site or grab one of those essence booklets.

http://www.essence.eu/en
The ingredients are:
ETHYL ACETATE, BUTYL ACETATE, NITROCELLULOSE, PHTHALIC ANHYDRIDE/TRIMELLITIC ANHYDRIDE/GLYCOLS COPOLYMER,
ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL, ACETYL TRIBUTYL CITRATE, ACRYLATES COPOLYMER, CAMPHOR, BENZOPHENONE-1, FORMALDEHYDE,
GLYCINE SOJA (SOYBEAN) GERM EXTRACT, TRITICUM VULGARE (WHEAT) GERM OIL, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, CI 60725 (VIOLET 2).

Another big bummer is,that the product contains formaldehyde, which can be a problem for people with allergies or sensitive skin.
The nail hardener itself is very liquid, which makes it super easy to apply it.But it will also make the bottle last longer.

The smell is very chemical, but nail hardener doesn't have to smell like roses.Does it?
But the performance of this product is just suuuuuuuuuper good.No expensive nail hardener in the world (and believe me I have tried tons of nail hardeners) will do as good as the essence ultra strong nail hardener.
It promises to strengthen, fix and protect brittle nails. It can also be used as a base coat for nail polish.

My nails are always weak and they chip very easy.Well cooking and washing up the dishes by hand doesn't help my nails at all *lol*
So 4 days ago I applied the ultra strong nail hardener as a base coat for my nailpolish.
I washed the dishes, cooked, cleaned and even did some gardening. And my nailpolish did not chip yet!!!
Usually after gardening I have to cut off all my nails, because they would be soo damaged and chippy.
Not this time!
My nails still look freshly painted!!!!!!

Even if you wear the nail hardener by itself,it is so glossy and shiny.
And it really strengthens the nails.
To my surprise the formaldehyde did not make the skin around the nails dry.

And for the price of 1,75 Euro it is a biiiiiig moneysaver .
So I am very happy, that I got my holy grail of nail hardeners back!
YAY!

  1. hi
I'm using this product too and I hope for great results..BUT
if you read the "warnings" which are in the second layer of the label it says:
    - you have to apply it for two days and then remove it for one before continuing the application (again 2 days on, 1 off etc)
-you can continue with this treatment for max 3 weeks
-you need to protect your cuticle and skin with some kind of oil..
...did you do all this? Or did you just use it as a normal nail polish?
'cause it seems like a pain in the ass to put it on and remove it for a couple of weeks, but..I'm also quite scared of causing more damage..
    *WAAAARGH* .. ;)

  2. Hi! Thanks for commenting.
I use the nail hardener as a base coat and I remove it after 3 days.I always protect my cuticle with olive oil.(with every polish I use)I have good results when I use it like that, cuz my nails are usually very weak.
Don't be afraid to do more damage.Even if you just use it as a base coat it has good results.

  3. I've never thought of protecting the cuticles with olive oil before using polish but it souds like a good idea (even more since I'm a goof , and the polish is always all over my fingers instead than just on the nails..)
    THANK YOU! <3
