A nice stew with a cheaper cut of meat

Today I went to the butchers.I actually wanted to buy some port tenderloin, but the price was just disgustingly high.
So I bought 2 Schnitzel. But Schnitzel itself is so boring and greasy.
After a look into my fridge I thought of a stew with all sorts of things in it.
What can I say? It was a fantastic dinner with about 2 Euro a portion.

You need:
2 pork Schnitzel (cut into mouth friendly portions)
1 onion (sliced)
1 bell pepper red (sliced)
200 gr mushrooms (either fresh or canned, sliced)
1 carrot (julienne cut or diced for the newbies)
200 ml cheap red whine
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
1-2 tablespoons soy sauce
100 ml cream ( I used canned milk)
Pepper,salt,nutmeg,sweet paprika,sweet red pepper,thyme and rosemary.
Water or chicken stock
Butter or ghee
cornstarch to thicken
Let a pan get really hot and put 3-4 tablespoons of ghee or butter in.Seal the meat quickly from both sites,so it won't get dry.Now add the onions, carrots, bell pepper and the mushrooms and lightly color the meat.(Gordon Ramsay says:"Color equals flavor")
Now pour the whine into the pan and let it simmer for 3 min.
Fill up the pan with water or chicken stock until the meat and the veggies are covered.Add the parsley and let it simmer for 10 min.
Season with all the spices, except from the salt,be generous with the paprika and the sweet red pepper.
Now add half of the milk/cream and mix the other half with cornstarch.
Add the soy sauce for a nice brown color and also add the milk-cornstarch mix and stir well.
Let your stew simmer for another 5 min and serve.

It fits perfectly to rice, mash, pasta or boiled potatoes.
You can get creative with different veggies and spices inside the stew.

I know the orange slices look funny, but they actually were really tasty with the stew.I also sprinkled some wild oregano over it,but that was a rather bad decision, but hey,we all do mistakes.

Anyway,I really enjoyed this stew and I am so happy for the leftovers tomorrow.

Huggies and Happy cooking
